Glenurquhart Litter Posters Competition

In Spring 2002, a competition was set for local schools by the Glenurquhart Rural Community Association to devise an Anti-Litter Poster for the Glen.

There were a nunber of entries from the High School, but the great success story was Glenurquhart Primary who supplied nearly 100 entries.

The judges had a very hard time deciding the winners but in the end Hannah Slater won for the older children, Sladjana Nightingale for the younger, and it was decided to award another prize for P1, which was awarded to Isla Maclean. All the Primary School winners at GPS were given a prize of £10.

The High School prize of £25 was awarded to James Bratt for his excellent ‘Don’t be a Loch Mess Monster’ design.

Because of the high standard of entry, all entrants were given a Certificate of Achievement by the GRCA. It is hoped that the competition will contribute to awareness of the problems caused by litter.

The posters will be displayed in succession at the Tourist Information Centre in the village, and later at Blairbeg Hall.
