What do we do?

Read our history in: 50 Years a-growing - published 1999 by the Glenurquhart Heritage Group

We Exist To

* Promote contact between all social interests in Glenurquhart

* Advance education and social welfare/facilities/activities for recreation and leisure-time occupation

* Act as a forum for, and help create/foster, new social organisations

We Complement

The activities of the Community Council and the Chamber of Commerce in their particular areas,

and work together with them where this benefits the broad community.

We Hold Annual Events for the Community:

November Bonfire and Fireworks

Coffee morning - funds for Childrens' parties

Annual Sale of Work

Pensioners Christmas Shopping Bus

Christmas Parties

Contact for the Elderly at home/in hospital with the Glenurquhart Centre

Every 2/3 years: - Glenurquhart Activities Open Day

- at least every 1000 years - Millennium Community Party

The Association Represents The Community on various local/area consultative/liaison Groups

Membership

All residents of Glenurquhart and its environs from whom we elect a management committee at our May Annual General Meeting.

One member is elected from each of the ten districts of Glenurquhart, ten others, our Highland Councillor and we invite a representative from any of our 70+ local organisations.

We have lively and busy meetings with a wide range of community topics discussed, reported and acted on.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of January, March, May, June, September and November.
